Lit analysis #3
Rise & Walk by Dennis Byrd
- This book is about the life of Dennis who went from experiencing his first tackle as a junior in high school to his last play in pads almost leaving him to never walk again. His story shows the limits a man can go through faith alone.
- He chose to write about his life to show people the power of faith. He was faced with impossible odds to walk again but threw faith he overcame.
- I chose this book because it was about football, I had no idea that it was about a man who broke his neck playing the game he loved. He goes into detail on how he became a star and what he expiernce at the hospital.
- Ya this was realistic because my family had told stories how god had told them to be strong through all the rough times in life. He expressed hard work in life and never giving up
People
- The author's tone persistence, that keep working and you can achieve your goals. Every person that the author mentions in his book seems to be people who he considers family. This is true for he forms a strong bond with one of his jet roommates to a brotherly like love.
- Marvin Washington took a little while to get use to Dennis but they ended up being brothers in bond. He quiet but a true friend. In fiction he might be a companion.Jeff Lageman was the complete opposite if Dennis, in fiction he might be considered the antagonist. But they were great friends.

This year has been a ride that’s the truth. I started not knowing what skills I possessed or what I wanted to do after this year was done. I still don’t know what to do but now I know I have some skills that I can use to help find my way. Seeing what the others have done some what inspires me. Even though I’m sure I haven’t improve that much this year due to certain events, the atmosphere in the class however helps to build the connections to propel you forward in your passion
For many times during the year , we were given misplaced trust on even the simplest of tasks. But even though a lot of us took advantage of that trust. Some of us actually didn’t abuse it and were very dependable. The few like Shane who comment on any topic without fear of sounding like he had no idea what he was saying, and the others like Gabby Veronica, and Tianna. They all seem to always doing what was on topic and produce the best work out of the class.
A passion I reconnected with is the making of instrumentals. Even though it is a slow frustrating process and the end result might not be that satisfying. I love the challenge

of putting what you hear inside your mind out to the world and see if it’s as good as you thought it was. I do want to continue it but I might now have the time anymore, also I need money to buy the right equipment if I’m ever taking it to the next level and actually produce quality songs. Sadley one thing I haven’t been able to reconnect with is poetry. After last semester I haven’t found it in me to create more. I have lost my heart for it so to speak. Sure I make random lines from time to time but I haven’t made anything close to I am a fireman or Ode to the great quality.
Throughout the presentations, a common theme was present on them, it was looking what was underneath. Dustin Mcdonald showed us a clip of him longboarding. In which turned out to be shots of places that has meaning to him also to give us some advice on life. Longboarding can make you forget about everything and causes to have to think ahead to avoid dangers. Just like life in which you need to learn to relax and think about what’s ahead so you can live without any worries. Veronica showed us the “ugly side” of professional singing in her presentation in the music buisness. She showcast ten different voices of increasing vocal talent to end up showing their faces at the end. What was surprising was that the least talented of the group was the highest on the charts based on looks alone. She showed us that being successful in singing is not only about being talented anymore. Daniel Alverez showed us the inside of the restaurant business. How it is not only about the chefs in there. A restaurant needs dishwashers to keep clean dishes for the costumers. Keep ingredients stocked. To keep the entire place clean and safe. Then the chefs come in to serve the people their creations. Jacob C. showed us the other half of body building. He showed us that the body is a machine and it need the right foods to perform at the maximum level. THe dedication one must have to do this is important, and the benefits to ones self esteem and health is worth the troubles. Jacob showed us that bodybuilding is really ten percent lifting weights and the rest is from diet to creating a mindset. Xavier and Robert shows us the two sides of a business. The front man and the person behind the creations. What was really the center of the presentation was Robert’s street art and his motto “A.I.R”. He showed us how influential street art is on society and that is apparent on what shirts you see around campus.
With alot of students having mentors being their family to co workers, But sadly for me I was not able to reach mine. Even though we have not talk I take inspiration from him, his music to me is great and he does two things at once. He runs a music channel as well as a gaming channel on youtube so his work is always being seen. The one challenge that is still going on in finishing the collab song but that might be a while. All in all my experience with the masterpiece academy has push me farther than ever before.

- The theme of the novel is friendship, that companionship trumps all evil.
- The tone in the novel is the fear of the unknown. When they found Hermione paralyzed with her eyes open holding a mirror.
- The lit elements are symbolism, Imagery, and Allegory. For symbolism it is the sword of gryffindor, a symbol of good, mimicking the story of king author on the way Harry gets the sword. For allegory Tom riddle's book serves that purpose and it also is a foreshadow on the rest of the series.
Characterization
- Harry Potter is a static character, He goes through liitle change. He keeps the personality of doing whats right .
Lit analysis #1
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Characterization
- A boy name pip was visiting his mother's grave stumble upon an escape convict who forces him to help in his attempt to loose the police. In which causes a series of events that leads to good old pip to be taken to london to be taught in the ways of the gentleman
- The theme of this story is to stay true to yourself and don't let anything change you.
- The stories tone is that of remorse or regret, that your life choices are not always the right one. example "I had never parted from him before, and what with my feelings and what with soapsuds, I could at first see no stars from the chaise-cart. But they twinkled out one by one, without throwing any light on the questions why on earth I was going to play at Miss Havisham's, and what on earth I was expected to play at. (7.92)"
- The literary elements used in this story is symbols, tone, and imagery. The tone is Great expectations changes throughout the whole novel. The book starts out as comical then it goes to dramatic to dark to sympathetic. For symbol, The stopped clocks at Satis House: symbolize Miss Havisham’s attempt to stop time. For imagery “I ran no farther than the house door, for there I ran head foremost into a party of soldiers with their muskets; one of whom held out a pair of handcuffs to me saying, 'Here you are, look sharp, come on!"
- An example of direct characterization is “I drew a childish conclusion that my mother was freckled and sickly” (ch 1, p. 4). An example of indirect characterization I earnestly expressed my hope that he wouldn't, and held tighter to the tombstone on which he had put me; partly, to keep myself upon it; partly, to keep myself from crying. (ch 1, p. 5).
- Pip is a dynamic character because he does change from a small town poor boy to a gentleman in class.

I am worthless
Not ment to stay
While others step out into the light of day
I'll hide in the shadows
In the darkness I will stay
